Here’s an interview question I like for technical candidates: Is this true or not true of you – I like logical, analytical approaches to solving problems? Probe question – describe an experience that fits your problem solving style. The candidate should be able to discuss specific examples of a concrete problem-solving approach used successfully in the past.

One of my clients added 11 questions on learning agility to their standard interviews, beginning in June 2011. Three years later, this has resulted in a streamlined process to get to the “final two” candidates. In 2011, it took 2 1/2 months. Today, it takes 2 weeks!
